What is the difference between champagne and sparkling wine ?

Champagne is a type of sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine qualifies as Champagne. To earn the name, it must be produced in the Champagne region of France and follow strict traditional methods. In contrast, sparkling wines like Prosecco and Cava are made in other regions using different grape varieties and production techniques. These differences in origin, method, and craftsmanship contribute significantly to the variation in taste, character, and price. That’s why Champagne typically commands a higher price than Prosecco or Cava.
