Looking for a Champagne that’s crisp, elegant, and mineral? Let us introduce you to one of The Champagne Fox’s favorite styles—Blanc de Blancs Champagne.
Made exclusively from white grapes, typically 100% Chardonnay, Blanc de Blancs is known for its bright acidity, fine bubbles, and clean, mineral finish. It’s the perfect bottle for celebrations, food pairings, or simply a glass of champagne in the sun.
What is Blanc de Blancs?
"Blanc de Blancs" means "white from whites" in French. In Champagne, it refers to sparkling wine made only from white grapes. In most cases, that means Chardonnay. This is different from traditional champagne blends, which usually include a mix of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Chardonnay brings finesse and freshness to the wine. That’s why Blanc de Blancs is known for its lighter style, with crisp acidity, subtle fruit, and a mineral backbone that makes it incredibly refreshing.
Brut vs. Extra-Brut: What to choose?
We often get asked about sweetness levels in champagne.
Brut offers a dry, well-balanced flavor with a small touch of sugar.
Extra-Brut is even drier, with less than 6 grams of sugar per liter. It’s ideal for fans of super crisp, bone-dry wines.
If you’re new to Blanc de Blancs, start with a Brut for a slightly softer edge. If you love ultra-dry Champagne with sharp acidity, go for an Extra-Brut.
Flavor profile: elegant and food-friendly
Blanc de Blancs have a clean, citrus-driven profile with notes of lemon zest, green apple, and white flowers. You may also notice chalky hints—especially in bottles from the Côte des Blancs, a top subregion for Chardonnay.
These wines are fantastic with food. Their lively acidity and fine mousse make them a match for seafood, creamy cheeses, and even salty snacks. Try pairing one with oysters, sushi, or aged Parmesan for a real treat.
Great value for price and quality
One of the best things about Blanc de Blancs? The price/quality ratio. While prestige cuvées from big houses can run high, there are incredible small-producer Blanc de Blancs options at affordable prices.
In our shop, you’ll find a selection ranging from €26.95 to €49.95, with top pick from producer Le Gallais from the village of Boursault, known for its incredible terroir.
Why We Love It
Whether you’re celebrating or just love dry, crisp wines, Blanc de Blancs Champagne never disappoints. If you enjoy champagne that is bright, fresh, and elegant, Blanc de Blancs might be your perfect match.
