10 Iconic Spots to Drink Champagne in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of those cities that rewards the people who slow down. The light changes constantly. The water is everywhere. Whole afternoons disappear sitting next to a canal, on a rooftop, in a park. It is the kind of city that was built for outdoor drinking, and for the kind of drinking that has nothing to prove.
As independant growers Champagne shop in the Netherlands, we have spent years finding the corners of this city that feel made for a good bottle. Some are well known. Some are not. All of them are public, free, and exactly the kind of places where a bottle of grower champagne earns its bubbles.
These are our ten. Each one paired with a bottle we love. Pack a blanket, chill it properly, and treat any one of these spots as an excuse to make an evening of it. If you want a wider look at outdoor champagne before you go, we have written about that too.
1. Amsterdamse Bos: Lakeside Picnic with a View of Schiphol
Head to the Amsterdamse Bos, down by the rowing lake. Lay out a blanket under the trees, bring French cheeses from Fromagerie Kef and a fresh baguette from Le Fournil de Sébastien, and pop open our Prestige Blanc de Blancs by André Fays.
Look up and you will see planes taking off and landing at Schiphol in the distance. A very Amsterdam contrast: nature, calm water, and constant movement overhead. The perfect picnic setting.
2. The Amstel River: Life on the Water
In Amsterdam, life happens on the water. Most of us know someone with a boat, or at least someone who knows someone with a boat.
Drift down the Amstel river on a sunny day and open a bottle of Zero by Marlène Delong. No schedule, no rush. Just the city, the sun, and a glass that stays deliberately uncomplicated.
3. Along the Canals: Keizersgracht, Herengracht, Brouwersgracht
Some places do not need an introduction. The Keizersgracht, Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht each have their own rhythm, but all are equally made for slowing down.
Sit along the canal edge, watch the boats pass under the bridges, and open a Demi-Lune by Champagne Le Gallais. Let the city move while you do not.
4. Funenpark: Amsterdam Oost's Hidden Sunset Spot
Tucked away in Amsterdam Oost, Funenpark is one of the city's quieter corners. Right next to the Brouwerij 't IJ windmill, it catches the last light of the day perfectly.
As the sun sets behind the windmill, open a bottle of Infinity by André Fays and let the evening slow down properly.
5. Durgerdam: Where Amsterdam Meets the Waterline
Just beyond the city, Durgerdam feels like another world. A small fishing village on the edge of the IJ, where Amsterdam fades into open water.
Sit by the shoreline with a blanket, baguette, and charcuterie, and open Ebène & Sens by Marcel Deheurles. Nothing more is needed. This is where the city ends and time loosens.
6. Marineterrein: Between Historical Boats and Open Water
The Nemo Museum rises in front of you, the Maritime Museum and its historic sailing ships sit to your left, and the water is full of people swimming. On Amsterdam's hottest days, there is nowhere better to be.
Lay out a towel, jump in, and open a bottle of Etincelles by André Fays, our crispiest, lightest Blanc de Blancs. It was made for exactly this kind of afternoon.
7. Het Twiske: Where Amsterdam Gives Way to Nature
The biggest nature reserve near the city, and still surprisingly unknown. Pack a cooler, a blanket, a few good snacks, and a bottle of Sans Filtre by Marlène Delong.
Sans Filtre is a natural champagne: indigenous yeast, no added sulphites, organic viticulture. Just grapes, and what nature does best. It belongs here.
8. Entrepotdok: Canalside, with Unexpected Neighbours
Entrepotdok sits right next to Artis zoo. The canalside is quiet, sunny, and easy to overlook, which is exactly what makes it special.
Settle in, open a bottle of Les Enseignes by Yves Jacques, and keep an eye on the giraffes and elephants walking in front of you. On a still day, you might just hear the lions.
9. Vondelpark, Westerpark, Erasmuspark: The Classics
Obvious, yes. But some things are iconic for a reason.
· For Vondelpark, bring Caudalies by Champagne de Sousa. It is a see-and-be-seen kind of bottle.
· For Westerpark, Extra-Brut by Champagne Laval keeps the energy going well into the night.
· For Erasmuspark, something quieter: Crémant L&F by Sunnen Hoffman, for an afternoon that does not need to be anywhere else.
10. Ouderkerk aan de Amstel: Follow the River Out of the City
Cycle south along the Amstel until Amsterdam falls away and the windmills appear. Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is everything North Holland should look like.
Drop your blanket by the water, open a Crémant Rosé by François Schwach, add strawberries, and watch the sun go down slowly. Some evenings do not need more than this.
Make Amsterdam Your Champagne City
This is the thing about Amsterdam: it gives you a hundred good spots, then asks what you are going to do with them. A canal edge. A nature reserve. A village twenty minutes from your front door. Each one becomes something better with a bottle that was chosen, not just bought.
Every bottle in this guide is from one of our growers, hand-selected and shipped properly. If you want to spend a season finding your own iconic spots, start with Amsterdam based champagne shop ;)
