Champagne Jacquesson 749 is all about precision and letting the vintage speak for itself. Built around the 2021 harvest, it shows a different side of Jacquesson’s numbered cuvées: fine, elegant and intense, for anyone who likes a little tension and character in their glass.
The blend is led by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a touch of Meunier. The base wines are fermented and aged in old oak casks, and Jacquesson lets each harvest shape the final blend instead of following the same recipe every year. The wine was disgorged in summer 2025 and released in spring 2026.
Tasting notes
A golden colour with fine, regular bubbles. On the palate it is vinous and focused, with a fine texture, a dry finish and the chalky precision typical of the house. It works well with oysters, scallops, sushi and other fresh seafood, and it is also good with richer dishes such as lobster or truffle.
A wine worth keeping
749 is lovely now, but it has the structure to develop further with careful cellaring, and a drinking window of around 2026–2035 seems reasonable. Over time the freshness should give way to rounder, more savoury notes while keeping its precision. If you like seeing how a harvest shapes a Champagne, taste 749 alongside Cuvée 748 (base 2020).
